Lynn and Kirk Grace purchased the property in 2003. Their first release was 2008 Wise Acre Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon in the fall of 2011.
We are a family owned and operated vineyard that is, quite possibly, the smallest commercial estate vineyard-winery in the Napa Valley. We personally hand-farm our half acre according to bio-correct practices developed by Kirk Grace.

Napa Valley AVA, Eastern hillside
Our half acre vineyard is planted to the Bosché field selection from Grace Family Vineyards. It sits in a microclimate of Deer Park at 680 feet elevation with a slope of 11% down to 1%.
We chose the name Wise Acre for a number of reasons:
- We want humor to play a part in our wine. We feel wine should be a joyful experience and laughter lifts the heart to that joyful level.
- We are less than an acre.
- We want a name that represents our philosophy of clean, organic and bio-correct farming. We also want a name that represents our personal hands on practice. We work with each and every vine pruning, tying, suckering, and timing irrigation precisely to the vines’ needs. This brings out the fullest potential of each grape cluster.
Our three symbols displayed on the label represent the intersections of the four elements of Alchemy (early chemistry). They are Earth, Water, Air and Light. The modern terms are Mineral, Liquid, Gas, and Energy. We strive to incorporate the intersections of Earth and Water, Water and Air, and Air and Light into our farming methodology. We see our farm as a living organism, and these intersections are its essential needs.

Our winemaker is Helen Keplinger. Our wine is made entirely from grapes grown on our half-acre vineyard. We use the French oak barrels Taransaud and Sylvain equally. These high quality barrels help bring forth the elegant tannins, structure, and full complexity in our wine. In 2012, we started incorporating a small percentage of new Taransaud and Sylvain oak. We age in the barrel 20 months and rest in the bottle for 16 months. We do not fine our wine. We rack four times to bring out the fullest flavor our wine has to offer.
